The Rori (plural: Rori) are an all-female race of fae native to Osekai. Although their precise origins are unknown, common folk-history holds that they migrated to Osekai from the far north of CONTINENT-NAME in the early Bronze Age, and religious texts of the Zei-Kotei faith claim that they originate from the plane of Aorazha in Halla, and that they all descend directly from the Pale Queen Rezharin. They have a highly cohesive and unified population, culture, and identity, concentrated almost exclusively in Osekai and almost universally following the Zei-Kotei faith. Rori found outside of Osekai are usually there for reasons related to business, diplomacy, or education, and those who have illegally left Osekai willingly without permission of the government are branded "apostates" and not allowed to return.

Rori are highly unique in that they are all females; despite reproducing in the same manner as (and being able to interbreed with) the Terrene races, no Rori fetuses develop into males, resulting in a 100% female population. Additionally, all children born to Rori mothers are also Rori, regardless of the race or species of the father. This has greatly shaped their history and culture, as Rori must rely on Terrene males for reproduction. This has led to a widespread perception of Rori as seductresses or parasites, and led to a sheer logistical cap on the Rori population which does not exist for other races - the number of Rori born each year is determined not only by the number of individuals seeking to become mothers, but also by the capacity of the nation's assisted reproductive services and the supply of Terrene sperm available to those services. This has led to a culture of sex tourism in some places, in which some Rori travel to other countries or scour prominent tourism and international areas in Osekai in an attempt to find a suitable father for a child. This limitation has also led to a significant cultural focus on reproductive medicine, endocrinology, and genetics.

The percentage of Mu-compatible individuals in the Rori population is an order of magnitude higher than that of most Terrene races, estimated at around 10-12% in 2015. Additionally, these individuals tend be significantly more potent in their magical ability than those of other races.

Rori are also highly unique in their physical development, as the average Rori lifespan is 406 years. Using broad comparisons to human and elven development development: Rori remain prepubescent until they are, on average, 20 years old, and then rapidly develop. After this, they remain physically reminiscent of young (20-30 years or so) elven women until they are roughly 275 years old. At this point, they begin to develop unique characteristics; these can include short horns (or, more rarely, very simple antlers), a film (ranging anywhere from black, to violet, to red in color) over their sclera - it is not uncommon for their eyes to take on a soft, magical glow or their skin to change colors as well. As these characteristics begin to develop, they will begin to develop into a stage resembling middle-aged (30-40 year old) elven women. By 360 years old, they begin to further age into a stage reminiscent of 50-60 year old elves, and their risk of fatal cardiovascular disease or cancer skyrockets. This long lifespan has also had a significant effect on Rori culture and society, with paths for education and careers often charted out over the course of centuries.
